Over Joshua and I’s Spring Break, we took a trip to Las Vegas! This trip was Josh’s 21st birthday present from his parents (& part of his gift was being able to bring me along as well). We went for four days and three nights.
We stayed at the Excalibur which is pretty much walking distance from everything. Since this was my first time in Las Vegas, it was really nice being able to experience the Strip and staying so close to everything. Our hotel was connected to the New York New York which was fun because we ate there a few times and rode the roller coaster! My sister told me I had to go on the roller coaster, as scared as I was, Josh got me on it. It was really fun and I ended up feeling glad that I did it. The only complaint I had about it was my head bounced back and forth between the head cushions. I am not sure if this is because I am smaller or what. But after I had a head ache from it. We went on it at night (which I think made it scarier) but it was really awesome being able to see all of the city lit up while being on the roller coaster. I definitely would recommend trying it! 🙂
The coolest thing to me about Las Vegas (The strip) was how pretty much everything is connected. Most of the casinos are connected and so are the shops on the strip. I think this is definitely beneficial with the hot weather. Josh and I took advantage of it on the hottest day we were there. It was nice to be able to get some cool air while while through the strip
After being in Las Vegas, Josh and I decided Video Roulette was our favorite way to gamble (hehe)! I also was determined to find Ellen Degenerous slot machines (LOVE HER), and I did. I did not win any money on them.... but it was still fun because it almost made me feel like I was on her show LOL.
I don't know if this is a common thing or if it's just me, but when I go on vacation I leave room in my luggage for the stuff I know I'm going to buy lol. I always plan a day for shopping. So Josh and I walked to the Fashion Show mall and did some shopping. They had the most beautiful TopShop. This was the first time I've been in a TopShop that was not apart of a Nordstrom. I love love loved it. They also had a huge Forever 21. We walked around and did some shopping before another night out. It was relaxing and fun!
Drinks + Food
My go-to drink while I was in Vegas was Malibu with Pineapple. It's my favorite drink. I also had a few pina coladas (can you tell I like pineapple and coconut?). Josh's go-to drinks were White Russians. I also had one and it was good.
My main mission on vacation was finding good food. I LOVE eating out (it's a bad habit). But anyway, we had New York pizza, which is located in the New York New York, and it was pretty good. I also had a side (but it was huge) caeser salad. One night for dinner we went to the buffet in the Excalibur, and I thought it was good for a buffet (a little pricey), but I love being able to pick different things and go back for seconds...or thirds... 😉 I think it was on our last day, Josh and I decided to go get breakfast just the two of us. It was really nice setting aside time to spend together as a couple. We found a place that was a little walk from our hotel called Coco's Bakery. On the outside, it does not look promising, but the food was SO good. Josh and I both got omelettes and hash browns/potatoes on the side. This also was our first time trying mimosas! We both loved them. I can totally see why they're so trendy. <3 If you are looking for a good breakfast in Las Vegas, I would highly recommend Coco's Bakery.
My current and latest (past 6-8 months) obsession is bubble tea. SO of course I was researching where I could get bubble tea in Vegas. Josh and I ended up walking the strip one of the days and on the way we went to a bubble tea place. It was called, . It was super good and perfect for the warm weather. 🙂
Things to do
Okay probably my favorite part of the trip.. The Michael Jackson Show. It's called ONE by Cirque. I personally am a HUGE Michael Jackson fan and listened to him all growing up. So this show was extra engaging to me. But even for people who are not Michael Jackson fans... will be amazed. It is so beautifully done. The acrobats, choreography, everything is so cool. Your eyes will be moving all over because there is so many things you wanna watch going on at once. If you are looking for something fun to do while in Vegas, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend One by Cirque. <3
After the show, Treva and I, tried out the water machine massages. They looked so weird/interesting/awesome. So we tried it out after a few hours of sitting and let me tell ya, it was really weird but actually felt good. So you lay in the machines and water pressure massages your feet to your neck, but you don't get wet. I could feel the temperature so it almost felt like I was getting wet but I wasn't. I don't know how else to explain it, but it was fun to try and I'm glad I did.
